Florida Outdoor Kitchens and Bacon

Florida Outdoor Kitchens and Bacon… Just about everybody likes Bacon

Few foods have earned the enduring love and devotion over the years that bacon has.  Wild boar was first domesticated in the ancient Middle East as early as 13,000 B.C., but the meat was far different than the pork products of today.  Originally, the word “bacon” referred to any pork product, but around the 17th Century, it became to mean the cut of meat from the belly.  Hernando de Soto is considered the “father of the American Pork Industry” for bringing 13 pigs to the New World in 1539 and growing that herd to 700 in a mere 3 years.

In the U.S., more than 2 billion pounds of bacon is produced each year to satisfy the bacon lust of Americans who love to eat it with eggs for breakfast, in sandwiches for lunch, wrapped around scallops for an appetizer, on a burger for dinner, and even in an ice cream sundae for dessert.  It’s difficult to imagine any meal that wouldn’t be made more delicious with a little bacon!

And the best news of all?  You can cook bacon on your Paradise grill!

Whether you’re going to incorporate it into your favorite recipe or eat it plain, cooking bacon on your grill is a great way to take your bacon up a notch.  If you prefer thinner bacon, it’s perfectly acceptable to cook it in a frying pan on your Paradise grill side-burner as it tends to burn too quickly on the grill, but if you like thick bacon, grilling it creates a deep flavor that you won’t soon forget and because it’s not cooking in its own grease, you won’t get that heavy greasiness that you would by cooking it in a pan and your bacon will remain crisp and delicious.  Follow Grill Junkie Guy’s instructions here for the best-grilled bacon!
